Pellet Drying Process

After pellets are produced their temperature and moisture content must be reduced for effective handling. The moisture content of a recently finished pellet is unbalanced, meaning that more moisture exists on the inside that on the pellet's surface. However, pellets' fibrous structure naturally wicks this moisture away to the exterior allowing it to eventually escape. This characteristic allows pellets to be dried simply by being left out in the open, or in the case of mass production where speed is of the essence, via a cooler which generates an air current. Afterward, the pellets may be bagged and stored.
